A jammed-packed four day super Incentive trip
SThree wanted to arrange a once-in-a-lifetime incentive trip that their guests would never forget. Having organised previous incentive trips for them, Gray Dawes Events was their chosen partner.
WHAT WE DID
This event was SThree’s Super Trip, so we knew that we had to pull out all the steps. We worked with the client to identify the perfect destination – Cape Town. With incredible hotels and restaurants plus a wealth of awesome unique activities available, it would be ideal to provide that once-in-a-lifetime experience.
To give the best possible insight into this event, we asked our Experience Expert, Craig Charles, who put the event together to walk us through the experience with a day by day breakdown of all the fantastic things that SThree got up to.
What an incredible finish to the year…
I have been lucky enough to project manage a few large events this year and be onsite for four. This was my final onsite event of the year and the second event I have worked on for SThree, Croatia being the first.
Having spent many months in the planning process with SThree, the day had finally come to take the 11 hour flight to Cape Town, a place I’d never visited but was high on my list. For this event we even had a film crew join us from SThree to capture all the best moments.
With onsite events you’re generally straight into the action as soon as you arrive and this event was no different. After our overnight flight, my colleague Joe and I set to work on making 56 goody bags and ensuring the hotels were ready and prepared for the guests arrival.
Arrival day – Always a day full of tired excitement for arrivals, for us it was a day full of action. Setting up a wonderful drinks reception for the guests before heading off to Table Mountain in sidecars in the evening. Table Mountain was touch and go all day as windy conditions saw it cancelled in the morning, but thankfully back on by the evening to everyone’s delight. After this amazing start we finished off the evening with dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 – A nice relaxing day. Guests enjoyed a cycle through the vineyards of Franschhoek with two stops for wine tasting and a beautiful and relaxing picnic for lunch. Dinner was held at a local restaurant called Gold where guests enjoyed traditional South African entertainment and sharing platters. Another great end to the day.
Day 3 – This was by far the busiest day, not only for the guests but for Joe and I. The morning started with Helicopter rides over Cape Town and the surrounding areas with whale and ocean sunfish spotting. After the high octane helicopter rides we headed to the port for what should have been a relaxing catamaran cruise. It all started off so well, but by the time we got to anchor the seas were a 9/10 on roughness (according to the Captain) and we had a number of people feeling sick and faint, including the DJ!
This is where having onsite support is key! Joe and I jumped into action and arranged smaller boats to come and ferry the worst effected back to dry land to recover before the farewell dinner. Thankfully we had an ace up our sleeve to end the day on a high – surprise vintage car transfers taking everyone to the wonderful Beyond restaurant in Buitenverwachting.
Day 4 – The final day for most people was, thankfully, a relaxing one following the previous days Lunch at the scenic Bungalow restaurant followed by departures to the airport.
The event was a huge success with lots of positive feedback throughout from delegates. Gray Dawes Events continue to work with Sthree and we’re looking forward to continuing to put together these fantastic rewarding experiences for their employees.
